The reason for me, originally coming from Germany, to move to Switzerland had been the mountains. Many Swiss people tend to say, Germans would move there for the money. But, actually, seeing the price you pay for living, it can not be the root cause…
Before I came to Switzerland, I had to make up my mind, where to go. Having a contract ready to sign in Germany, the Netherlands as well as in Switzerland, I had the choice. Round one decided to leave Germany behind, hence the Netherlands and Switzerland needed a comparison. This was not that easy, as one was working in the IT of a large bank, while the other was a position in a research lab. Being a computer scientist, both positions seemed interesting to me.
Since I do paragliding, the decision was made up quite fast. The Netherlands did not have that many good spots for flying – I didn’t do flat land flying yet – hence Switzerland won the race with one point. Otherwise it would have been a draw, and the coin would have had to decide.
Flying in the Alps gives an amazing view of the mountains. And if you compare yourself with the size of them, or the few trees growing upon the rocks, you can see the unimportance of it all.
Currently, I don’t find the energy and time to leave Zürich to go out and fly. Back in Germany I have been in the air far more often.
But this situation I have to change. ASAP. Otherwise I will loose my reason for having moved to Switzerland.
I’ll need some vacation. Go out flying. Anyone ready for joining in?

Wirklich tolle Aufnahmen, gefallen mir gut!
