I’ve had this idea for quite some time, shooting with several lamp shades, the ones made from chinese paper one can buy at Ikea. I already purchased a bunch of them when Jaz asked me over to Lausanne for a spontaneous shooting.
This turned out to be an interesting idea, even though the idea to follow “Cinderella chased by Lamp shades” did not really turn out to be the best shots. Nevertheless, I switched over to shooting with the Lensbaby, which has the amazing effect with the famous sweet spot.
This is a very interesting method of steering the viewers eye to the most importaint part in the image, leaving the rest outside the sweet spot with an interesting smear effect. This is all done by the lens and not added in postproduction.
Maybe I’ll write a little about using the lensbaby later on. But for now, this should be enough. I will edit some more images from this session over the upcoming holidays, so stay tuned.
And as always, comments are welcome.
Cheers, dirk

This looks like a very exciting use of the Lensbaby! Beautiful shots. Nice use of the selective focus to create a very atmospheric series of images.
Thank you. Allot fun with that type of lens…
