I got involved into numerous discussions about Hardware, and there seems to be no end in sight. One of the statements mostly targets at the used hardware and its correlation to good pictures.
Of course it is hard to shoot the perfect shot using a crappy camera. Nevertheless, a good camera will not make the perfect shot.
The Image above was made with Ekkes FujiFilm FinePix E550, since I had no camera with me at that time (actually we had planned to have a last flight with the paraglider, but the wind did not play along). He complained about his camera and I told him that even with this tiny camera one could make good shots. Without having used his camera before, I made three shots, this image is right out of the camera without any alteration.
When looking for a new Camera, I would check for the following:
- Budget: How much am I willing to pay for a camera and is the amount of images worth the price you would pay for it?
- Functions: What functions do I need? When shooting in automatic mode or one of the presets all the time, don’t even think of buying a high end camera. This will ruin your fun shooting forever.
I guess one would enjoy a camera most, when it suits the needs completely but features a little bit more. This way one can still evolve. And looking at the speed in development for new hardware, there is no need to buy a camera capable of things one might need in two years or more.
Just my humbly 3Mpixels…
