I finally managed to go through the first set of shots and pick out some of the better ones.
The images are not chronologically, but over the time, the complete time line will be shown.
We started our trip – we traveled through South Africa for almost a month -Â in Johannesburg, where we picked up a rental car and directly headed east.
One might think, there would be allot of improvements in respect to the infrastructure close to the Soccer World Cup. But these improvements are only visible for Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg around the soccer stadiums and along the Garden Route. The rest of the country does not seem to benefit of the huge amount of money spent.
For our 4.600 km trip – this number showed up on the counter at the end of the trip – we sometimes had hard times finding the road in between all the potholes. For the unpaved road, which made up almost one third of our trip, it was not easy not to leave the exhaust on the road.
But when coming to the place desired, it has always been worth the trouble. Amazing nature and wildlife to see.
And we tended to be lucky by seeing all the famous big five right in the beginning, and hence could relax for the rest of the trip. We met others eager to see them, and as of that, being totally distracted from the beautiful scenery right in front of their eyes.
More to come…
