One of the most wonderful things of South Africa is the amazing multiplicity of wildlife coexisting in many wildlife reserves. For us as European visitors, we only know those animals from the zoo or the circus.

Like South Africa, this posting will have a bit of everything in it. For the shot above we went for the valley of desolation, where one gets an amazing view over Graaff Reinet laying afoot. Being up there we ran into the problem of not knowing the current time, but knowing the gates of the [...]

Of course, a country is nothing without its people. And we would not be traveling a country, without getting to know them.

I finally managed to go through the first set of shots and pick out some of the better ones.

Sad but true, almost four weeks after leaving my home in a hurry, we are back from our trip through South Africa. It took us one more day than planned, since South African Airways fucked up and where not able to hand us the boarding ticket in Cape Town for the second flight from Johannesburg [...]

After more than 3.500 km on the road, paved and unpaved, we finally arrived in Cape Town.
Not a very pleasant thought, to go back to Switzerland, -5° Celsius and Snow, but my mind is almost as full as my laptop, both having stored numerous of amazing shots I did during our travel. All of them [...]

… we are still alive, not eaten by lions or leopards yet. But there are still some weeks to come.

Last weekend, I was asked by Markus to join in for the Photo09 exhibition in Zürich. We met on deviantArt, because he was shooting the same model I did one week past my shooting with her. Having seen his shot of her with her bear hat on said everything.

I got involved into numerous discussions about Hardware, and there seems to be no end in sight. One of the statements mostly targets at the used hardware and its correlation to good pictures.
Of course it is hard to shoot the perfect shot using a crappy camera. Nevertheless, a good camera will not make the perfect [...]
